All Butter All The Time
We strive to spread happiness throughout Knoxville one delicious morsel at a time. We make everything from scratch, using no short cuts and only the finest ingredients.
What We Make
Anything cake, we can do it. We also make pies, cheesecakes, cookies, and banana puddings on a regular basis. Seasonally, we make king cakes, apple stack cakes and other delicious treats.
We do our best to be good neighbors and active members of our community. We’re Knoxville born and here we’ll stay. We’re proud of our scruffy little city and want to do our part to make it the sweetest place to be.
We never add preservatives to our products and strive to use the best ingredients possible. We use local Cruze Farm milk and buttermilk, source eggs from cage free/hormone free sources, use pure cane sugar and of course…All Butter All The Time.
Magpies was born in 1992 to founder Peg Hambright. She was a graphic designer/illustrator/musician college drop-out who just wanted to make stuff. Her love of process, sugar and her desire for immediate gratification made baked goods a perfect fit. Peg’s niece, Elizabeth Smith, took over as owner in 2018 after many years learning the business from her aunt Peg. Small businesses are like children…they take a village. Magpies has been lucky to have grown up among the most supportive family, friends, customers and employees imaginable. This business is a reflection of all of them and YOU! MWAH!!
We are lucky to be part of this incredible neighborhood and community. We often donate gift certificates and sometimes products for fundraising efforts in the community. Please note that we only donate to organizations with 501(c)3 status (letter required) and we do not contribute to political or religious causes or to beauty or talent pageants.
If you are looking for a gift certificate, please fill out this form at least 30 days prior to your event.
Small Hall Gallery
Hidden between Magpies and the Glowing Body you’ll find the White Oak Small Hall Gallery featuring an ever-changing selection of artwork curated by Knoxville’s own Beth Meadows. Her works are available here, through her Etsy store and at Rala on Union Ave. downtown. Feel free to stop in during our normal business hours to view at your leisure.
